What to Expect
When you come to First Baptist Church, you’ll find some business casual, some “Sunday Best,” and some dress casual. We aren’t concerned with what you are wearing when you join us… we just want you to join us.
Once you arrive at FBC, enter the main foyer by the door located under the drive-up canopy. You’ll be greeted by friendly folks who are looking forward to meeting you. We have a small gift for those who are attending for the first time.
Once the service begins at 10:30 am, you can expect to hear the church announcements. After a time of meaningful congregational worship, children aged pre-school through sixth grade will be dismissed to children’s church (not required). Pastor Russ will then open the Word of God and preach. Each message is accompanied by a Power Point presentation and follow-along notes. Our service usually ends at noon.
For Your Children
We love children at FBCC! In addition to our Sunday School program for all ages, we have a Junior Church program during the Sunday morning worship service that begins with the toddlers and teaches children through elementary school. It is well-staffed with teachers who love the Lord and who love children. On Sunday evenings, elementary children join their families in the auditorium.
We also have a wonderful AWANA program for children pre-school through the 6th grade. We’ve been doing AWANA for over thirty years! It is a fun-filled program that meets on Wednesday nights from 6:15 – 8:00 pm. We challenge kids to hide God’s Word in their hearts through Bible verse memorization in Handbook time and through Bible lessons in Council time. Exciting games and Bible challenges are an important part of the AWANA program.
AWANA: approved workmen are not ashamed (2Tim 2:15)
AWANA consists of the following groups:
- Cubbies: Preschool (3 – 5 year olds)
- Sparkies: Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade
- Truth & Training (TNT): 3rd Grade thru 6th Grade
The Awana program includes:
- Handbook Time – Clubbers recite verses they have learned and complete workbook tasks.
- Game Time – Clubbers play fun, age-appropriate games that encourage team spirit and good sportsmanship.
- Council Time – Clubbers are challenged through Bible lessons and songs.
AWANA meets on Wednesday nights from 6:15 pm to 8:00 pm, September thru mid-April.
Weather Alert: if Clarkston schools are closed, so is Awana.
Transportation: Rides are provided in the church van which picks up children between 5:30-6:00 pm and returns them just after 8:00 pm.
Children must have a current emergency form on file to ride in the van.
Nurseries are provided for infants to toddlers during all of our services. Parent sign-ins, screening of our children workers, and conscientious health practices assist us in ensuring the safety and well-being of all the children in our nurseries. We trust that you will be confident in our care for your children.
